A Message from the Founder and Director
New Hope. I named this project NEW HOPE because the families in our village desire hope – hope to have a better life and to enable education for their children in order to see them succeed in life. Unfortunately, all to often, this hope is lost because of difficult life conditions, like the lack of opportunities for making money. The only financial source in this area is agriculture. But most of Benin’s families have only a small portion of land that is usually very poor, thus the harvest is also poor. The harvest is their only means of income – by which they must feed their children and send them to school.  Unfortunately, with such poor harvests, the money is usually not enough to feed the family, so they are unable to send and support their children in school.

With NEW HOPE, the lost hope is found again. What families desired to do for their children, but could not, is now possible through generous people like you. Though the old hope was lost, a New Hope has appeared.

Why butterflies?

In Benin we have many types of butterflies of different sizes. The butterfly is an amazing living creature, especially considering its origin. Two months ago, worms invaded my house. Instead of destroying them I decided to watch them carefully and see what would happen. They climbed the walls of my house and then made cocoons. Three days later, butterflies appeared. They flew away, leaving only their shells on the wall. The worm gave way to a new and powerful purpose, one with beauty and flight.
